COACH GLENN Morrison says he won’t be able to confirm his Dewsbury Rams side for tonight’s crunch Kingstone Press Championship fixture at Sheffield Eagles (7.45pm) until after the warm-up.
Rams are struggling with a huge injury crisis and Morrison said: “I have to name a 19-man squad two days before the game, so I did, but a couple of them aren’t fit.
“We probably won’t know until the warm-up, when we have fitness tests on a couple, what sort of squad we are going to have.
“It is not ideal, but that’s what we’ve been dealt at the moment.”
Injuries have had a major effect on Rams, who have slipped to eighth in the table.
Sheffield are one place better off on points difference and Morrison observed: “It is a big game.
“We know we can beat them and we need to be picking up points in games like this.”
Morrison is aware Rams are in danger of slipping towards the danger zone at the bottom of the table.
“The teams behind us are right there, so if we lose it puts us down there towards the bottom four,” he said. “We are doing our best with what we’ve got.
“And we know if we get a few players back we will kick on.”
He added: “It is just a matter of trying to pick up points in the meantime and staying in the mix until we start getting players back.”
