HARLEQUINS player Ben Bolger is expected to make his Dewsbury Rams debut in Sunday’s home Northern Rail Cup tie against Barrow Raiders.

Bolger, 21, who can play in the centre or back-row, has joined Rams on dual registration and comes highly-recommended by Leeds Rhinos boss Brian McDermott, who coached him in London.

“I have spoken to Brian and he assures me he will do a job,” said Rams coach Warren Jowitt. “I’ve also spoken to (Harlequins coach) Rob Powell and they both say he is not far off taking the next step.

“He played 15 Super League games last year, but Harlequins are at full strength at the moment and they want him playing in a decent competition.”

For Sunday, Jowitt will select from the 17 players who won at Doncaster last week, plus Bolger and Ryan Glynn.
