BOSS NEIL Kelly reckons Dewsbury Rams are “right in the mix” as they battle to stay in the Kingstone Press Championship.

Rams – who play host to Toulouse Olympique tomorrow (3pm) – moved level on points with third-bottom Swinton Lions following Wednesday night’s 20-16 victory at Oldham.

It has not changed our league position, but we are right in the mix. Now, one or two wins could elevate us three or four places higher.

Dewsbury Rams boss, Neil Kelly.

They are now just one point adrift of Oldham and three behind Rochdale Hornets and Kelly said the important thing is they are still in the fight.

“It was a war of attrition and, fortunately, we came out on top,” Kelly said.

“It has not changed our league position, but we are right in the mix.

“Now, one or two wins could elevate us three or four places higher.

“That has always been the target, to get into that situation, but we don’t want to stop there – we want to get to that higher position.”

Toulouse suffered their first home defeat of the season last weekend, against London Broncos, and slipped to third in the table when Featherstone Rovers beat Swinton on Wednesday.

Rams were crushed 52-6 in France four months ago and Kelly admitted the midweek game has made their task tomorrow even harder.

“Three games in eight days is a big ask for part-time players,” he said. “Doing that and having to go to work as well is really tough.”
