Dewsbury Rams: Spicer's return a bright spot for Kelly

It was the first of three games in 10 days for Rams, who visit relegation rivals Oldham tomorrow and are at home to third-placed Toulouse Olympique on Sunday.

Kelly said: “It was a tough day. I took a slightly under-strength side because I’m trying to manage the squad through this period as best I can.

“Because of suspensions and resting a couple of players, we were not at full-strength and that scoreline was the result.

“We weren’t as bad as the scoreline suggests, but one big disappointment was that several of the players didn’t really cover themselves in glory defensively.

“Hull KR are still playing the style they played in Super League and when your defence is not at its best they will run over the top of you.”

Kelly admitted several players picked up knocks which could affect his team selection for tomorrow.

But he added: “I thought some individuals did really well. Rob Spicer has been injured, he played his first game in the time I’ve been in charge and acquitted himself very well. He got through okay and will be in charge for the Oldham game.”
