Dewsbury Rams: Morrison proud as Rams turn up heat

Rams were pipped 8-6 by visitors Swinton Lions two days ago, a week after losing their opening game 46-0 at Rochdale Hornets.

“The boys really ripped in defensively and bashed them up and the energy was there,” said coach Glenn Morrison.

“Conditions were appalling and we couldn’t play with the ball. I said at half-time it was going to come down to a kick and who gets there first was probably going to win the game.

“With two minutes to go a kick stuck in the mud, they got another boot on it and snatched the win, but we didn’t deserve that. The boys really had a dig.”

Morrison added: “We were after a reaction and it was good to see they really wanted to be there and wear the jersey for each other.

“I was happy to see that and I was proud of their efforts.”

Morrison said Rams came through with no significant new injuries, but admitted conditions took their toll with several players suffering the effects of hypothermia after the match.

“We had heat lamps on them and they were wrapped in silver emergency blankets, but they should be okay,” he said.

Rams will expect better conditions on Saturday when they travel to promoted Toulouse Olympique.
