Dewsbury Rams: Morrison looks for change in fortune

“He went off,” coach Glenn Morrison reported. “He did the same knee that has troubled him over the last couple of years. He doesn’t seem to be able to get it 100 per cent. We will have to assess him, but fingers crossed for him.”

Substitute Jack Tearby was Dewsbury’s other fitness concern.

“He got a poke in the eye and a head knock in his first carry,” Morrison said.

“He was on and off, he had blurred vision and couldn’t finish the game.”

Despite a winning start to Rams’ Kingstone Press Championship campaign, Morrison was disappointed with the performance.

He said: “It’s two points on the board and, at the end of the year, we’re not going to remember how we got them.

“But we were a long way off. We were made to fight hard by a strong team.

“We had to dig deep and stick together to get over the line.”

The coach added: “It wasn’t major things we did wrong, it wasn’t structural things – it was kicking out on the full, not finding touch with a penalty, dropping balls on the first tackle.

“Touch wood, we won’t double up.”
