Dewsbury Rams: Kelly keen to raise players' self-belief

The 46-18 Betfred Championship loss at Featherstone Rovers two days ago was Rams’ fifth successive defeat and they are eighth in the table.

Kelly was pleased with how some of his side performed and felt the scoreline “flattered Featherstone a bit”.

But he said: “Most of the squad I am happy with, but the frustrating thing is, some of the players are a bit slow to change.

“We are trying to change how they think about themselves.

“We want them to be positive about themselves so we go to places like Featherstone thinking we can get something from the game.

“I don’t think all the players believe that.”

Kelly, whose side are at home to leaders Toronto Wolfpack on Sunday, added: “Some of my players played tremendous football.

“Paul Sykes led them really well and Jordan Crowther, Jode Sheriffe, Aaron Brown and Josh Guzdek were very good.

“But if you go to places like Featherstone and you don’t complete and you don’t defend well, it will come back to bite you.”

Rams came through the game at Featherstone with no major injuries, though Macauley Hallett will be assessed after suffering suspected whiplash in and incident which was placed on report.
