Dewsbury Rams: Bogey side aiming for a hat-trick of wins over Bulls

Dewsbury are aiming for a third win of the season against their near-neighbours and the club where coach Glenn Morrison spent three seasons as a player.

“We beat them at home in the Challenge Cup and beat them at their place in the league, so we know we can do a job if we turn up,” Morrison said of today’s derby.

Bulls have been in free-scoring form in the Championship Shield and thrashed Oldham 82-0 in their previous outing, but Rams’ 24-22 win at Halifax made them virtually safe from relegation and Morrison reckons his team can play with much more freedom today.

“They have had a few big wins,” Morrison observed of Bradford.

“They will be pretty confident, I am sure, but for us it is about our performance, gaining some momentum and keeping the style of play we want to play going – to try and get – into the semi-finals.”

The Rams boss is looking for another tough defensive effort from his side, building on the gutsy display at Halifax.

“Even with 12 men the game before, against Workington, our defence was solid,” he said.

“The big thing for us is hanging on to the ball and cutting out the silly errors, which have been hurting us.”
