FRYSTON WARRIORS will be in the bag for tonight’s Ladbrokes Challenge Cup third-round draw, but Thornhill Trojans and Featherstone Lions missed out.
Warriors, the Pennine League leaders and Yorkshire Cup holders, won 40-12 at London Chargers in round two.
Former Wakefield Trinity stand-off Paul Handforth was outstanding for Warriors, who led 22-6 at half-time. Wayne McHugh, an ex-Featherstone Rovers and Hunslet centre, crossed twice, Jack Lee also bagged a brace.
And other try scorers were Ben Strong, Lee Land and Craig Jones, and Andy Speake added six goals.
Trojans went out 30-20 at Haydock.
George Woodcock scored two tries and two goals for the Dewsbury team and Liam Morley and Danny Ratcliffe also touched down.
Lions suffered a shock 26-0 home defeat by London outfit Wests Warriors.
The surviving community clubs will be joined in tonight’s draw by teams from Kingstone Press League One, including Hunslet.
Meanwhile, Oulton Raiders will begin preparations for the new National Conference season on Saturday with a home trial game against West Hull (2pm). Methley Royals travel to Cowling Harlequins in the Pennine League 11-a-side Division on Saturday.
