Championship: Rovers planning to stick with a winning team for Halifax clash

Sharp said, unless late injuries strike, he will field the team which triumphed 31-0 at Dewsbury Rams last Sunday.

Rovers are fourth in the Kingstone Press Championship and a win over Halifax would be a big step towards a place in the Qualifiers when the competition splits in nine games’ time.

“I’ll be going with the same 17 that did ever so well at Dewsbury,” Sharp said.

“We are still without Steve Snitch, Michael Channing and Scott Turner because of injuries and they are probably between two and four weeks away.”

Meanwhile, Batley Bulldogs coach John Kear is monitoring the fitness of two players before naming his initial 19 for the Blackpool derby with Dewsbury, also on Sunday.

Rams coach Glenn Morrison will name his 19 after fitness tests on Scott Hale (elbow) and Kyle Trout (knee), who both picked up knocks against Featherstone last week. “They are both in doubt,” Morrison said.

“Jack Teanby got a rest last week and Dom Speakman, so we have got people who can come in.

“Dale Morton has not played in the last couple, so we have got some cover.”
