EAST LEEDS will be without a head coach for tomorrow’s Ladbrokes Challenge Cup first-round tie at home to Thornhill Trojans.

Boss Peter Longbottom has stepped down due to other commitments so ‘A’ team coaches Mick Moss and Robert Roberts will be in charge, along with Tom Sheldrake.

Easts are without long-serving trio Jordan Normington, Ryan Holmes and Lee Priestley, who have all retired.

Milford Marlins make the long trip to Aldershot to face British Army without Matthew Brocksom (shoulder injury), and Tom Wilson and Robin Wilkes are unavailable.

But Joe Ramsden is back after spending a season playing in Australia and youngsters Josh Cawood and Jake Payne will be given an opportunity on the first-team stage.

Coach Gavin Brown said: “It is going to be a big ask to come away with the victory, but the squad has prepared well and we’ll give it our best shot.”

Hunslet Club Parkside are already through to the second round

They received a bye after their tie against Valley Cougars was called off as the Welsh champions could not raise a team – because of a wedding function.

Oulton Raiders, meanwhile, are at home to Siddal.

Other Challenge Cup ties include Hunslet Warriors at home to Wath Brow Hornets, RAF v Drighlington and Queens away to Distington.
