Wakefield Trinity Wildcats have completed the signing of winger/full-back Richard Owen from neighbours Castleford Tigers for the remainder of the 2014 season.

Owen, 24, scored 57 tries in 112 Super League appearances for Castleford, including six touchdowns in just five games this season.

Owen reported for training at Rapid Solicitors Stadium today and will provide an extra option for Trinity head coach Richard Agar in the outside-backs ahead of Sunday’s meeting with Tigers at Magic Weekend.

“It’s been really good,” said Owen of his first day as a Wildcats player.

“I know a few of the players from playing against them and they’ve been very welcoming.

“I did eight years at Castleford and it’s a new start and a new challenge. I think it’s what I needed and it’ll do me the world of good.

“It’s a growing club here. They haven’t had the best of starts and are just starting to hit some form. It’s something I want to be part of.”

Wildcats Chairman, Michael Carter, said: “We’re really pleased to welcome Richard to the club and I’d like to go on record to thank [chief executive] Steve Gill and Castleford Tigers for their part in helping make this deal a smooth one.”
