The deal will keep the 28-year-old Samoan international at Castleford until the end of the 2021 season.

Sene-Lefao joined Tigers from Australian club Cronulla Sharks on a two-year contract in October, 2016 and was their only ever-present in his debut campaign, when Castleford lifted the Betfred Super League leaders’ shield and were Grand Final runners-up.

He said: “I’m exciting about my future here.

“We landed here last year and it felt like home straight away.

“The amount of support we get from everyone from the town, the fans, the staff and the coaches at Castleford has been fantastic.

“I can’t wait to get back out there and see all those smiling faces.”

Tigers coach Daryl Powell said: “I’m delighted Jesse has agreed a new deal to stay at the club.

“He has been a quality addition to our squad and has further improvement in him moving forward.

“His enthusiasm is outstanding and I’m looking forward to working with him over the next three years.”

Castleford’s director of rugby Jon Wells also hailed the new contract.

“We have worked incredibly hard over the last couple of months to get Jesse’s signature and we are delighted he has pledged his future to the Tigers,” Wells said.

“He’s an exciting talent who I think both coaching staff and fans are very much looking forward to seeing develop further over the coming years.” Sene-Lefao has been sidelined for the past six weeks after undergoing surgery for a medial collateral ligament (MCL) meniscus injury, but could come into contention for Friday’s derby at home to Wakefield Trinity.
