The former Huddersfield Giants centre/second-row joined Tigers from Australian club Newcastle Knights, but suffered a hamstring injury in training ahead of the Betfred Super League round one game at St Helens.

He also sat out the win over Widnes Vikings nine days ago, but coach Daryl Powell is confident Wardle will be fit to face Hull at the Jungle on Saturday and is relishing seeing his star recruit in action for the first time.

“He is looking forward to it,” Powell said.

“He just needs to get out there and get some game time under his belt.”

Last year’s leading try scorer Greg Eden, who missed Widnes game due to a hamstring problem, is also set to play this weekend.

Powell said the winger’s injury is not serious and he added: “We didn’t want to risk him because the pitch is really heavy at the moment.

“We need to check on him, but he should be okay.”

Powell insisted the time since Tigers’ last game has been put to good use.

“The boys have worked hard,” he said.

“There’s a couple of things we need to improve and we are looking forward to this weekend.”
