Castleford Tigers winger Denny Solomona and scrum-half Luke Gale have been named in the 2016 Super League Dream Team.

Solomona is among nine players making their Dream Team debut.

His rivals for the Steve Prescott Man of Steel award - Hull duo Danny Houghton and Gareth Ellis - are also featured.

Solomona, who was unable to attend today’s Dream Team unveiling, scored a club record 42 tries in just 29 appearances this year.

He also set new Super League bests for the most hat-tricks - with seven including one in Sunday’s win over Widnes Vikings - and tries (40) in a season.

Gale is included in the Dream Team for the second successive year.

Loose-forward Ellis is one of six Hull players named in the seasonal form team, voted for by members of the rugby league media.

It is his fifth appearance, eight years after he was previously included during a spell with Leeds Rhinos.

Hull’s other representatives are full-back Jamie Shaul, centre Mahe Fonua, hooker Houghton, prop Scott Taylor and second-row Mark Minichiello and loose-forward Ellis.

Wigan Warriors’ Dom Manfredi is the other winger and former Wakefield Trinity Wildcats centre Ryan Atkins is one of four Warrington players, alongside prop Chris Hill, second-row Ben Currie and stand-off Kurt Gidley.

Solomona travelled straight from Sunday’s game against Widnes to London to board a flight home to attend his sister’s wedding in Samoa on Wednesday.
