CASTLEFORD Tigers have confirmed the signing of prop Steve Crossley from Featherstone Rovers on a two-year deal due to begin next season.

Crossley came through Bradford Bulls’ academy and had a spell with Dewsbury Rams before joining Featherstone at the start of 2013.

He said: “I’m really looking forward to joining Cas Tigers next year. The chance to go full-time again and play in Super League was always a goal I’ve had since leaving Bradford.

“There’s a few players at the club I’ve played with already - the likes of Liam Finn and Andy Lynch - who I look forward to linking up with again.”

Crossley added “I’m excited to be linking up with Daryl Powell again. He is a top class coach who’s got the all round coaching game in him.

“He’s good tactically, technically and great at handling his players and it’s no fluke what he and the boys have achieved so far this year.

“The club itself is a great community which I can’t wait to be a part of. The fans have always been one of the loudest around and add a great atmosphere to games, home and away.

“I’m really happy to be a Tiger for the next two years and hope to build on the team’s successes of this year.”

Powell said: “Steve is the next cab off the rank for props in the Championship following on from some outstanding successes in Chris Hill and Alex Warmsley.

“He is big and robust with a skilful attacking game which will fit neatly into how we play. He is a solid defender and as a bloke is perfect for our environment. He has some hard work in front of him but he is desperate to perform in Super League and this is a great opportunity for him.”
