The Tigers kick off their 2021 campaign at Headingley this weekend and head coach Daryl Powell is yet to decide if half-back Richardson will be involved.

The former St Helens player sat out the pre-season friendly with Hull KR 10 days ago as a precaution.

He will be included in the club's 21-man squad that will be announced on Friday, with Powell set to make a final decision closer to kick off.

"Danny will be in the squad, whether he plays or not, we will make a decision later in the week," he confirmed.

"We are strong in our spine so we will be fine."

Liam Watts, George Griffin and Greg Eden also missed the friendly with the Robins while Suaia Matagi and Sosaia Feki are both ruled out for an extended period.

Powell is preparing to name a strong side as he prepares for what will be his final campaign in charge at Castleford.

"The squad will come out on Friday but I think we are strong," said Powell.

"We have got a couple of people missing with Suaia Matagi and Sosaia Feki but we will have a strong 17.

"Our starting team will be strong and I am expecting to have an outstanding bench. I am looking forward to it."

Powell is happy with the strength in depth at Castleford and feels his side will be able to cope better with injuries this year.

He added: "We have got good depth. When you get to August, you are going to need good depth.

"I think we have got a really good squad, it has got some experience and some speed about it.

"There are some teams that have recruited really well. We have been criticised for our recruitment but we will just get on with it."

Meanwhile, Warrington coach Steve Price has confirmed that three-time NRL Grand Final winner Greg Inglis will miss the round one fixture.
