The deal will keep the centre or second-row at the club until the end of next season.

Webster has been in outstanding form this year after signing a one-year contract last November.

He became a key player for Tigers after captain and centre Michael Shenton suffered a long-term knee injury in the opening game of the campaign.

The 32-year-old, who joined Tigers from Hull KR in 2013, is ever-present so far and has scored five tries in his nine appearances.

Webster, who recently became a British citizen and has moved house from Hull to Castleford, said: “I’m feeling really good.

“It has been a bit of a tedious few years for me with injuries, so I’m pretty proud of myself.

“I am excited to be staying with the club and hopefully we can build on the start we’ve made this year.

“We need to improve a few things and we want to be pushing for a top-four spot.

“I don’t think top-eight is enough.

“Hopefully we can pick up a few more wins going into the back end of the first half and that will put us in a better spot to play for the top-four.”

Webster described moving to Castleford as “probably the best thing I’ve done”.

He said: “It has helped my body to be able to rest up and it has brought me closer to the boys and to the club.”

Coach Daryl Powell said: “Jake has been a revelation this season.

“He is fitter than previous seasons and has taken over the left-centre position in such a positive way.

“His work rate with the ball has been outstanding, which along with a tough defence has meant this contract extension is very well deserved.”
