Gadwin Springer could miss Tigers’ final three games of the season after suffering a foot injury in last Friday’s
46-22 win over Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.

Fellow forward Grant Millington had to leave the field during that game due to a heart murmur which will require surgery and is unlikely to play again this season.

Coach Daryl Powell said: “We’re struggling for numbers in a big way. We’ve lost Lee Jewitt and Frankie Mariano for the season and we’ve cancelled training and put it back [to today] in the hope we can get a couple who can train then.

“We were down to five in the pack, but one of those [on loan Saints forward Andre Savelio] can’t play so it was just pointless running the session.

“We’re scared of doing any contact in case we get any more injuries.”

The good news for Tigers is the possible return from long-term injury of back-rower Mike McMeeken.

“We’ve missed him,” Powell admitted of the former London Broncos man who suffered a fractured leg in the defeat at Salford two months ago.

“He was one of our stand-out players earlier on in the year until he got his injury so to have him back available would be awesome.”
