Bulldogs boss wants a far better performance on return to Toulouse

The Ladbrokes Challenge Cup fourth round tie is Bulldogs’ second trip to France in successive months.

And after they were crushed 44-6 there in Kingstone Press Championship round one, Diskin reckons Toulouse may take his side lightly.

“I think the experience of having been there before a few weeks ago will help us,” Diskin said. “We caught cold a bit last time, regarding what Toulouse would deliver.

“I thought our preparation was good, but we came up short – massively.

“I think there might be a bit of arrogance from Toulouse, they’ve left a lot of big names out of their 19-man squad.

“They are either not fans of the competition or they’ve not got a lot of respect for our players.”

Diskin said a squad meeting this week targeted hard work as a way to better results and he added: “This game will be a test of that.

“We know we’re going to be under the pump and the players will need to work hard for each other.”

Bulldogs’ prospects have been hampered by a baby boom.

Diskin said: “We’ve got three players – Dominic Brambani, Macauley Hallett and James Davey – with wives who are expecting babies, so they aren’t available.”

Cain Southernwood (cracked ribs) also misses out.
