The hosts were 10-0 up after just eight minutes and never looked like surrendering their advantage. James Clare opened the scoring after two minutes against his former club, with Omari Caro crossing soon after.

Ryan Hampshire sent in Greg Minikin just before the break to give the Tigers hope, but tries for Alex Mellor and Luke Hooley took the game away from Cas, before Dec Sheehan responded for Tigers.

Meanwhile, a Wakefield Trinity Wildcats side featuring a mixture of first teamers and under-19s were pipped 32-30 by Newcastle Yowies at Belle Vue.

The Australian side got off to a flying start as they raced into a 12-0 lead, but tries by Craig Hall and Joe Arundel, both converted by Jordan Tansey, levelled matters.

Another converted try gave Yowies an 18-12 interval lead, but substitute Brad Moules struck with back-to-back tries at the start of the second half and two more Tansey goals nudged Wildcats in front.
