Batley Bulldogs 24 Swinton Lions 32: Bulldogs leapfrogged by Bulls after shock reversal

Bradford Bulls leapfrogged Batley into third place after the Bulldogs suffered a surprise 32-24 home defeat by lowly Swinton.

Trailing 18-0, Batley struck back with two tries apiece from Adam Gledhill and David Scott, all converted by Pat Walker, who moved to within two goals of 500 in his career.

Bradford coach Jimmy Lowes bowed out of Odsal on a winning note with a 52-16 win over bottom club Workington.

Winger Danny Williams marked his first appearance of the season with two of the Bulls’ 10 tries.

Fellow winger Omari Caro also touched down twice, with other tries coming from James Clare, Adrian Purtell, Kris Welham, Oscar Thomas, Dale Ferguson and Mitch Clark, with Danny Addy kicking six goals.

Winger Chris Murphy scored two first-half tries for Workington to keep his side in touch but their only try after the break came from full-back Jack Murphy.

Meanwhile, in Kingstone Press Cider League 1, things went according to the script for Hunslet Hawks at Oxford.

The visitors won the contest 40-14.

Next Sunday, Hunslet entertain Doncaster who edged out Barrow 21-18 yesterday.
