Amateur RL: Trojans reel in Raiders with timely victory

OULTON RAIDERS are facing a battle to hang on to top spot in National Conference Division Two after a 35-26 loss to second-placed Thornhill Trojans.

Dom Flanagan scored a hat-trick for Raiders, Adrian Holdsworth and Andy Williamson also crossed and Tom Egan kicked three goals.

Trojans are now just a point behind.

Will Gledhill ran in a hat-trick and other try scorers were George Stott, Joss Ratcliffe and Danny Ratcliffe, who added five goals and a one-pointer.

East Leeds kept their promotion hopes alive with a 48-14 win over Crosfields.

Jack Norfolk, Jason Priestley, John Carter and Shane Plunkett all bagged a brace, Nathan Conroy scored a try and four goals and Jacob Thompson also touched down.

In Division One, third-placed Milford Marlins were crushed 46-8 at Featherstone Lions.

Elliot Watmough and Jake Payne scored Milford’s tries.

Injuries took their toll as relegation-threatened Hunslet Warriors went down 40-12 at Ince Rose Bridge.

Ben Gale and Luke Day crossed and Daryl Gaunt kicked two conversions for Warriors who trailed only 12-6 at half-time. Warriors were already without Caldon Bravo (back injury), Darrell Forster needed hospital treatment to a broken thumb and Luke Naughton and Craig Smith also went off hurt.

Hunslet Club Parkside were left idle when visitors Blackbrook failed to raise a team.

Stanningley, who play host to Dewsbury Celtic tomorrow (7.30pm), thumped 15-man Stanley Rangers 64-18 in Division Three, after leading only 18-12 at half-time.

Liam Copland scored a try and 10 goals and Jack Sykes, Jermaine Ruan, Jordan Walker, Joe Brier and Ben Ward all crossed twice.
