MILFORD MARLINS’ hopes of promotion to the National Conference Premier Division have been boosted by the return of their former junior Austin Buchanan.

Buchanan began his professional career in Leeds Rhinos’ academy, played in Super League for London Broncos and Wakefield Trinity and also had spells with Dewsbury Rams and York City Knights.

He is set to feature in tomorrow’s home game against Ince Rose Bridge when third-placed Marlins will be aiming to secure a home tie in the play-offs. Dwaine McRae has returned to Milford from Kingstone Press League One side Oxford and Paul Tharme and Zak Snelgrove also come into contention.

Joseph Tharme, Macauley Barron and Connor Parr are all unavailable and captain James Barker remains on the sidelines due to a back injury.

Hunslet Club Parkside are second in the table, behind Underbank Rangers on points difference with a game in hand and will move a step closer to a third successive title if they beat visitors Shaw Cross Sharks.

Parkside will be without Dale Harris, Luke Pettman and Ryan Gaunt, but Charlie Magee and Jamie Milburn have been drafted in.

A rib injury threatens Gareth Croft’s ever-present record for Hunslet Warriors, who visit York Acorn tomorrow.

Chris Hartley will continue in the side after making his return from an 18-month injury lay-off last week and Johnny Dawson is available after work commitments.

Captain Tom Sheldrake and prop Lee Priestley will return for East Leeds’ final league fixture in Division Two at home to to Drighlington tomorrow.

But Lee Fisher (knee) and Ryan Holmes (shoulder) miss out.

Oulton Raiders will finish top if they win at Askam tomorrow.

Second-placed Stanningley visit leaders West Bowling in Division Three.
