Amateur RL: East Leeds grab lifeline as Warriors slip

EAST LEEDS have given themselves a lifeline, but Hunslet Warriors are edging closer to relegation from National Conference Division One.

Easts’ 20-6 home win over fellow strugglers Ince Rose Bridge lifted them above Warriors and they are now sixth from bottom on the table.

John Carter, Kai Simpson and Ben Walkin were Easts’ try scorers and Nathan Conroy kicked four goals.

A big effort from young hooker Nathan Benson, supported by forward Dave Norton and centre Gareth Croft, was the only positive for Hunslet Warriors from a painful 46-0 home drubbing by Myton Warriors.

Milford Marlins are in contention for a play-offs spot after a 24-14 derby win at Oulton Raiders.

Richard Hulme crossed twice for Milford, Tom Wilson and Andy Barker also touched down and Joe Ramsden converted all four.

Adrian Holdsworth, Rob Stanley and Matthew Stableford were Oulton’s try scorers, Kieran Walpole landing one conversion.

Division Two champions Hunslet Club Parkside had to dig deep to beat visitors Leigh East 12-10, after trailing 10-6 at the interval.

Jamie Fields scored Parkside’s opening try, Omar Alrawi levelled the scores on 63 minutes and Andy Hullock’s second goal, seven minutes from time, was the winner.

Danny Ratcliffe, who scored two tries and three goals, was outstanding for Thornhill Trojans in a 30-12 derby win at Dewsbury Celtic.

Other try scorers were Mindaugas Bendikas, Ryan Fenton and Liam Green and Sam Ratcliffe added two goals.

Danny Crabtree bagged a brace for Celtic and Doug Foster also crossed.
