CLUB STALWART Malcolm Waite described failing to raise a team for the National Conference Division Two play-off at Dudley Hill as one of the worst days in East Leeds’ history.

Easts are waiting to hear what action Conference officials will take, with options including a fine, relegation or expulsion.

Easts spokesman Waite said: “We struggled all week long for players, then on the day four or five of them didn’t turn up.

“The second team had already set off for a game at Selby so we couldn’t draft anyone in from there.

“In 38 years it is the saddest day I remember, it’s very upsetting.”

Blackbrook also failed to field a team at Hunslet Warriors in Division One, denying retiring duo Caldon Bravo and Gary McClelland a final appearance for Warriors.

Warriors were informed of Blackbrook’s non-arrival around two hours before kick-off.

Hunslet Club Parkside secured the Division One title with a 30-6 win at third-placed Milford Marlins.

Tom Wilson scored Milford’s try, converted by Josh Cawood.

Omar Alrawi bagged a brace for Parkside and Luke Pettman, Jamie Bradley, Jack Kirmond and Mark Stubley also crossed.

Jamie Fields (2) and Andy Hullock added goals.
