Taste The Nectar then made the switch back to handicap company at the same track, after a couple of unsuccessful runs in that sphere in the summer, defying a less-than-ideal passage and a career-high mark to grab a neck victory on the line.

She did well to come from down the field to win in the final strides – and, given the fact she was staying on strongly, a switch up to seven furlongs on her return to Kempton perhaps makes sense.

Silverturnstogold moves the other way, up to a mile from seven furlongs in the Bombardier Golden Beer Handicap.

He hit the mark in an apprentice handicap last week and should be followed as he makes a quick return, with 7lb claimer Elisha Whittington again in the plate.

Winner of the Fred Winter back in 2014, Hawk High has clearly not been the easiest to train – with his career punctuated by long breaks – but he still remains a horse of real potential.

After he fell short against the best in hurdles company, Tim Easterby switched him to fences last term – and everything appeared to be going swimmingly as he won two of his four starts.

However, he missed an intended run at Sedgefield at the end of January and has not been seen since.

His rating of 133 puts him 13lb below his hurdles peak, so perhaps Hawk High still has a bit to work with – if he can pick up where he left off at the start of the year.

Proschema struck over course and distance at the start of November and can make it a Wetherby double in the Rewarding Ownership With The ROA Novices’ Hurdle.

Twice a winner on the level for Tom Dascombe, Proschema hit the bar on his debut for Dan Skelton but impressed on his next outing when winning by 10 lengths.

He produced a fine round of jumping that day, and should be able to defy a penalty here.

Big Shark made a most encouraging start to his career under rules with a Worcester victory for Philip Hobbs last month – and he can follow up at Hereford.
