Saltaire’s Sajad Ali rips through Addingham as Hanging Heaton smash Batley in T20

Awaise Hussain hit 77 for Saltaire before Ali ripped through the visitors, clean bowling six of his victims, to join the elite band that includes Yorkshire spinner Hedley Verity in 1941.

Leaders Otley made it three wins out of three thanks to a crushing nine-wicket victory over Burley-in-Wharfedale.

Otley cruised to victory after dismissing Burley for 56 with Nathan Goldthorp and Stephen Brown both taking three wickets apiece.

Andrew Doidge took 5-22 to put second-placed Rawdon on the way to a four-wicket win over Olicanian and so became his club’s leading wicket taker.

Mustahsan Ali Shah took 7-52 for Bilton and Istikhar Hussain 6-29 for Follifoot but both finished on the losing side against Horsforth and North Leeds respectively.

Elsewhere, a solid knock of 66 from Daniel Kirby helped Collingham get home by two wickets at eighth-placed Ilkley.

In the Bradford League Gordon Rigg Premier Division Cup, Sam Drury made a dramatic debut for Hanging Heaton following up a 4-19 spell with a top score 83 as they passed Methley’s 145-9.

Jonny Booth (62) top-scored in Townville’s 200-8 and they had Batley struggling at 76-5 but Adnan Mahmood (37no), Imran Mahboob (44) and 48 not out from Mohammed Bhoola, including 10 off the final over, clinched victory which moved Batley top of the East section.

Kris Ward (60) and Toby Booth (70) helped Cleckheaton to 206-7 but Charles Davy (75no) led Bradford & Bingley’s successful chase.

Archie Scott (5-31) helped bowl out Morley for 153 to set up victory for Pudsey St Lawrence, Mark Robertshaw (69no) leading the way, while a 5-28 spell from Lewis Lomax saw Wrenthorpe skittled out for 85, Steve Bullen (51no) steering New Farnley home.

On Sunday, the teams switched to T20 action, with Hanging Heaton embarking on a record-breaking run spree in their opening Group A clash against Batley, scoring 277-3.

It surpassed the previous competition record of 252-4 set by Pudsey Congs in the 2014 final against Woodlands and is just one run short of the highest total recorded in international T20 cricket, the 278-3 set by Afghanistan against Ireland in 2019.

Skipper Ben Kohler-Cadmore led the assault with 91 from just 37 balls as he dominated an opening stand of 132 with Gary Fellows.

Kohler-Cadmore hit seven sixes and nine fours, but he was put in the shade by big-hitting David Stiff, who made a brutal 86 not out from just 26 balls with 10 sixes and four fours. Fellows weighed in with an impressive 76 from 45 balls.

Chasing such a huge total proved too much for Batley, Mohammed Bhoola (28) top-scoring in a total of 134-6, Callum Bethel taking 5-19.

The first team to secure their place in the last four are Bradford & Bingley after a 35-run win over Cleckheaton sees them top Pool Two.

Spinners Bradley Reeve (4-13) and Kyme Tahirkheli (3-16) did the damage as Cleckheaton were bowled out for 93 in reply to a modest total of 128, skipper Ed Brown (38) top scoring.

Pudsey St Lawrence are favourites to win Pool One after a comfortable six-wicket victory over East Bierley,

Opener James Smith hit 90 from 47 balls as East Bierley’s total of 152-3 was passed with 13 balls to spare.

New Farnley bounced back from their opening defeat to St Lawrence with a 66-run victory over Pudsey Congs. Openers Adam Waite and Lee Goddard both scored 50 as their side made 162-9. Jacob Slator was the best of the bowlers with 3-34. Congs were restricted to 96-8.

Townville look on course for a place in the semi-finals after a convincing eight-wicket win over Carlton.

Openers Jason Marshall (40no) and Alex Cree (39no) guided Methley to a 10-wicket triumph at Ossett, the home side restricted to 91-9 as Ben Waite took 3-22.
