Nidderdale League: Gill star all-rounder as Darley maintain their pursuit of leaders

Chasing a modest total of 113, Ouseburn eased past the winning post at 114-1 to maintain top position.

Darley kept up their pursuit of Ouseburn with a nine-wicket success over Birstwith, thanks to Chris Gill’s all-round efforts.

Spells of 4-18 for Gill and 3-15 for Joe Furniss helped restrict Birstwith to just 112 all out before Darley cruised to a winning score at 114-1, with Gill again to the fore with an unbeaten 94.

Spofforth took their fourth victory of the season in comfortable fashion as they beat struggling Alne by seven wickets.

Nick Robinson played a crucial role as he claimed five wickets (5-72) which restricted Alne to 158. Spofforth then eased to victory at 152-3 as Andrew Bottega hit 59 not out.

Luke Manion was the star man with bat and ball in Hampsthwaite’s three-wicket victory over Helperby.

Manion claimed 6-32 in Helperby’s innings of 155 all out and then hit 32 as his side reached their winning target at 159-7.

Second-from-bottom Knaresborough Forest were set 156 to win and claimed a comfortable five-wicket victory over West Tanfield.

Pateley Bridge remain bottom after they lost by three wickets to Bishop Thornton in a high-scoring affair.

Replying to Pateley’s 252-6, Thornton reached 253-7 with Rob Nelson hitting 82.
