Nidderdale: Jordan King proves his all-round value to stun title hopefuls Helperby

Neil Blaken’s Burton side eased past struggling Wath & Melmerby, with Toby Drummond (105) in fine form, while James Townsend (61) also impressed in a total of 284-7.

Mitchell Cross claimed 3-40 for Wath, then got the away team’s reply off to a strong start with a knock of 63 alongside skipper Bobby Hilton (30).

But Burton secured maximum points when 4-25 for in-form bowler Sam Crompton and Jon Duffy’s 3-14 saw the visitors bowled out for 162.

Birstwith chalked up a sixth consecutive success when they dismantled bottom-of-the-table Bishop Thornton, who were skittled for 126, with captain Andrew Hyland hitting a defiant 50.

Nick Wain (3-2) and George Hirst (3-20) ldid the damage with the ball, before Birstwith reached their target thanks to Tom Croston (64) and Hirst (58).

Helperby finally tasted defeat and slipped to third when they failed to chase down Darley’s 185. Jordan King was the standout performer, following up his knock of 52 with a stunning return of 6-8 from 8.1 overs.

Defending champions Ouseburn got the better of Masham with a two-run victory, while West Tanfield defeated Dacre Banks by 39 runs.

Goldsborough enjoyed a comprehensive 187-run triumph over Knaresborough Forest.
