Yorkshire Jets first appearance in the Netball Superleague semi-finals ended in defeat when they were beaten at Surrey Storm.
Anna Carter’s side, who finished third in the league, can hold their heads up high after a strong performance, particularly in the first half.
But the Jets were out-performed on the day by second-placed Storm, who had a vocal home crowd on their side.
The opening half of the game featured end-to-end exchanges with both teams impressive across the court with Jets just about the stronger.
The visitors went into half-time two points ahead needing to consolidate their lead after the break.
It wasn’t to be though – Storm seemed to regroup during half-time and, by the end of the third quarter, it was the home team that led by 11 points.
That, ultimately, was the difference between the sides as the home team continued to pull away in the final quarter.
At the final whistle in an intense semi-final, Surrey Storm had beaten Yorkshire Jets by 16 points, the final score 76-60.
Jets will now travel to next Saturday’s Superleague Finals Day at The Copper Box Arena in London for the third-placed play-off where they will face Manchester Thunder who will be smarting substantially themselves after suffering a shock defeat at the hands of Hertfordshire Mavericks in their semi-final.
