Leeds star Sam Tordoff says there are “no excuses” as he begins his second assault on the British Touring Car Championship this weekend.

Tordoff, 24,enjoyed a fine first season in the BTCC last year with a sixth-placed overall finish and a maiden victory at Snetteron.

And having again signed with powerful outfit MG KX Momentum Racing – alongside touring car legend Jason Plato – Tordoff is raring to go ahead of this weekend’s opening meeting at Brands Hatch.

“I’m excited to get back into the car,” said Tordoff.

“I feel a lot better than I did last year and that’s down to having the experience of a season in BTCC now under my belt. Last year we reached our objectives a lot quicker than we thought we would, the win certainly caused me to reassess my objectives and this year I want to be fighting at the front, challenging for podiums and ultimately wins. I’ve realised that consistency is key and I’ll be going all out to finish every race in the points and that should allow the challenge for the title to build itself. I’ve got no excuses; I have a fantastic team, car and team-mate, and we’ve improved over the winter. I think we’ll be really strong again this season.”
