Leeds United: Sam's Ghanian international dream inches closer

Lloyd Sam's international dream with Ghana is inching closer with Ghanian footballing officials having revealed he is close to securing a nationality switch.

On Leeds-born Sam, who has Ghanaian heritage, Ghana FA vice-president Fred Pappoe said: "We're close to two – Adam Kwarasey and Lloyd Sam.

But one or two others we are still trying to talk to them. With respect to Adam and Sam we're still gathering the necessary paper work.

Carlisle United are being tipped to resurrect their interest in United striker Mike Grella, who saw a loan switch to Motherwell fall through late last week.

The American ace proved a hit during a successful three-month stint at Brunton Park which ended earlier this month, playing 11 matches and scoring three goals.

The Cumbrians have a transfer kitty to work with following Gary Madine's six-figure switch to Sheffield Wednesday and while boss Greg Abbott has alternative striking targets, a resurrecting of their interest in Grella remains a distinct possibility.
