Leeds can place third in Nigel McKee's first year as captain

Leeds captain Nigel McKee leads his men into their final game of the Yorkshire Inter-District Union League season with third place in sight.

Should they beat Halifax-Huddersfield on Sunday and other results go their way, they would finish behind only Sheffield and York, the two teams battling it out for the championship crown.

This is McKee’s first season in charge after taking over from Tony Greenhalgh and third spot would be a fine achievement.

“That would be amazing, I’d be absolutely delighted,” said McKee. “I’d take fourth place, though, to be honest.”

Leeds will see seven changes from the side that thrashed Harrogate in their last match, but McKee is particularly delighted that Ben Firth, Tom Madden and Dan Bradbury can all be included, ensuring their eligibility for the Inter-District six-man team championship to be held at Halifax Bradley Hall next month.
