And they’re aiming to see out the season in style when they entertain Doncaster in their final match of the campaign at home tonight, April 11, push-back 7.30pm.

When the 2017/18 season got under way, Leeds HC’s men’s first XI was preparing for what they anticipated would be a difficult inaugural year in the National Hockey League.

Not to be outdone, the Ladies first team, who were playing in the North Hockey Women’s Premier Division, took up the challenge to emulate their male counterparts.

And with the season now almost over, Leeds Ladies gained promotion to the National League last weekend with a 6-0 win over Neston.

Leeds Hockey Club will be the only team in Yorkshire to have both their top teams playing National League next season.

Coached by Gawaine Mackenzie-Hogg and captained by Louise Corkhill, the ladies are giving no thought that the season will finish on anything other than a victory.

Saturday’s victory was their 18th win this season, and, having been held to a draw on only three occasions, an unbeaten season is very much on the cards.

Tonight’s fixture will be played on the top astro pitch at Sports Park Weetwood.
