Yorkshire golf: Lindrick duo set pace in three-day Yorkshire Challenge

LINDRICK pairing of Jamie Shepherd and Jason Pickett lead the way overall after the first round of the trilateral Lexus Yorkshire Challenge being held at three Ryder Cup courses in Moortown, Ganton and Lindrick.

Shepherd and Pickett, competing in the Ganton Series, which moves to Moortown today and concludes on their home course of Lindrick tomorrow, amassed 45 points.

Pickett secured two net eagles, at the 522-yard par-5 13th and 448-yard par-4 16th as the pairing finished two ahead of club-mates John Wood and Tim Reaney.

There were two teams tied at the top on 43 points in the Lindrick Series, which continues at Ganton today and switches to Moortown tomorrow for the final round.

Bingley St Ives’ Ronnie Dawson and David Dawson had a net eagle in their round at the 439-yard seventh through David.

Sand Moor’s Chris Gray and Fulford’s John Pollard also had one eagle, theirs coming through the efforts of Pollard at the 394-yard 17th.

In the Moortown Series – being staged at Lindrick today and which reaches its climax at Ganton tomorrow – leading Yorkshire pair are third-placed Michael Fromant and Andrew Clarke of Baildon, the latter securing a net eagle for them at the 440-yard par-4 second as they totalled 40 points.

Leaders in this series are Jake Richardson and Darren Richardson from Durham City on 42 points.
