If I had to pick the games we would find really difficult to get a result, last Sunday’s home clash with Newcastle United would have been one of them.

Every week we read and hear about magnificent goals, which really are not. We read about being “swept aside” when it didn’t happen.

I’m not talking about Leeds, I’m talking about matches in general.

Why does everything have to be talked up, or down. You win, you were brilliant, you lose, whose fault was it. Teams play bad and win, teams play great and lose.

I’m not disappointed because I didn’t believe we would win. We played well in patches but Newcastle played better. I take every game with caution because we are not the finished article.

I don’t predict games because in football you can quite easily fall flat on your face. I trust Garry Monk and I am confident he knows what he is doing. I will take the highs and lows because this is my team. Being annoyed is one thing but I won’t condone slagging off and insults.

Those who are old enough to have been there will remember the gut-wrenching heartbreak when even “Don’s lads” suffered a bad result.

Let’s see how the guys bounce back because Rotherham is a big game. Newcastle is history.

Dallas can step up to No10 role

Assuming Pablo Hernandez is not fit, I think Garry Monk should consider playing Stuart Dallas in the “number 10” position against Rotherham if he is fit enough.

He has played right across the pitch at various times in his career and from what we have seen he doesn’t like being tied down to a wide position.

He wants to be involved all the time. I’m sure I recall him playing more central for Brentford against us and he showed towards the end of last season he can find the net.

An attacking midfield of Hadi Sacko, Dallas and Kemar Roofe would be so direct and quick, Rotherham would be pulled all over the place. Liam Cooper will be a capable replacement for Pontus Jansson in this game and I really think Robert Green needs to be dropped to reinforce the message that such basic errors cannot be tolerated in a team looking to challenge the top six.

Mistakes will happen but this was such a bad one and together with his error at QPR and dodgy kicking, he has to accept that he can have no complaints if Marco Silvestri replaces him.

The only other change would be Liam Bridcutt – if he is fit– coming in alongside Eunan O’Kane.

If we don’t beat Rotherham then I will be lot more concerned than I am at losing to Newcastle.

SUNDAY’s game turned on the Rob Green error. Yes, Newcastle had the ball, but Leeds were defending well.

We often let teams have the ball yet defend well.

You can’t legislate for what Green did. Bearing in mind that, you could argue Stuart Dallas, Liam Bridcutt, Pablo Hernandez were big misses for Leeds.

I think we learned that Kalvin Phillips is industrious but shouldn’t play that far forward. The match tells us that with Hernandez we can play 4-4-1-1 with Pablo just behind.

If we go 4-4-2 we need the two players missing against Newcastle – Bridcutt and Dallas.

Bridcutt is brilliant at winning the ball and Dallas works harder defensively than Kemar Roofe and has a better end product. Overall, I was not too disappointed. After the goalkeeping howler, Marco Silvestri must start next game.

Liam Cooper needs a game at centre-back. I hope that Dallas is fit to start and Bridcutt is available from the bench soon.
