Never mind (head coach Steve Evans) just telling Lewis Cook to get his chin up; he, along with 20,000 Leeds United fans need something to get their chins up about.

Poor team, poor players around Cook, never look like scoring, defence flakey at best and no positivity around signings and team strengthening from our man at the helm. We’re just selling our best assets and buying bargain-basement dross.

The future isn’t bright right now, and no words will improve that.

Commitment to invest and drive this team forward is the only thing that will create positivity and get us out of the mire we are in.

Leeds not at the big-money level

No CLUBS outside the Premier League, or without parachute payments, can afford to buy ‘big-money’ players.

Replacing average players with more average players has been tried by a succession of managers, and simply does not work.

The only way a club can break out of this pattern is to get a coach who can improve the players already at the club and increase fitness, skills and effort.

Fulham and Blackburn both spent big and are not threatening the play-offs.

No clear-out this summer

It’s an interesting article (YEP, February 10, 2016) but (head coach) Steve Evans doesn’t need to worry about what other managers think.

From the contracts that end in 2017, I would suggest that the end of next season will probably be the one for a clear-out if we fail to sell players at the end of this one.

It seems the main concern this summer will be to keep Lewie Coyle, Charlie Taylor, Lewis Cook and Kalvin Phillips.

I’m not sure how Luke Murphy has got a contract until 2019; that is absolutely ridiculous from what I have seen of him.

We need to have a plan, and not keep expecting each season that we will gain promotion. A right-back, a centre-back and a centre-forward would add a lot to the current squad, and I like how Steve Evans is trying to play – he just doesn’t have the players at the moment to do it.

It’s a shame that it seems like this season is over, but that is the reality with the quality in the league.
