Yorkshire Amateur League - Saints in seventh heaven after boosting top-four status

Top-Four Horsforth St Margaret’s were in seventh heaven following their Supreme victory over second-bottom visitors Drighlington.

Saints had the match points pretty much in the bag after building a four-goal advantage. It finished 7-0 with Ciaran Lumley, Damir Mulavdic, Laurie Power and Jamal Stewart among the scorers for the home side.

Second-top Farsley Celtic Juniors, meanwhile, made light work of lowly hosts Calverley United, easing to a 5-2 win with goals from Sam Bradley (2), Craig Farrand (2) and Tom Ormonroyd.

Celtic remain level on points with leaders Wortley who, despite going down to 10 men, walloped third-bottom visitors 5-0 to maintain their superior points difference, though Farsley still have a game in hand. Joe Cryer, Joseph Hudson, Curtis Lewis and Ryan Sharrocks scored the goals.

Bottom club Steeton provided stiff resistance at top-six Leeds City before going down 4-2, while Thomas Ramsden hit four goals in Littletown’s 7-2 success at Leeds Medics & Dentists.

Mid-table rivals Route One Rovers and Lower Hopton shared six goals equally, Ryburn United were pipped 4-3 at home by Athletico, and Stanley United proved too much for Alwoodley to handle; it finished 5-2 to the home side.

The whole of the Yorkshire Amateur League is scheduled to return on January 2, 2021.
