Yorkshire Amateur League: Freescoring Farsley Celtic hit five to stay top

LEADERS Farsley Celtic Juniors continued their unbeaten start to the Premier Division season with an impressive 5-0 victory over fifth-placed Horsforth St Margaret's.

Farsley increased their goal tally this season to 48 from just 10 games, with their goal difference now standing at plus-41.

Joe Firth, Cameron Whalley and Louis Surtees were among the goals for Celts. Opponents Horsforth still sit fifth on 11 points.

Wibsey played out a 6-6 thriller with Calverley United, but despite this enthralling encounter, Wibsey still sit bottom and have only managed to win one game. The goal scorers for Wibsey were Matthew Rowntree, Ethan Labad and on song Danny O’Donnell – who grabbed four goals.

Calverley sit ninth, one point ahead of the bottom two and for them, leading scorer Matty Wilson hit a hat-trick, Dale Spink managed two goals and Tom Westerman, one.

Elsewhere in the Premier Division, Leeds Medics & Dentists continued their impressive start as they saw off second-bottom team Ealandians in a 4-2 victory.

This win leaves the Medics in fourth.

On the scoresheet for Ealandians were David Kerr and Damon Nichols.

Athletico and Stanley played against each other in the Terry Marfitt Trophy second round and it was a thriller, as it finished 6-5 to visitors Stanley.

Ashley Downing, Ben Laycock with two and Rhys Bruce who also got a brace, were the scorers for Stanley.

Athletico’s scorers were Mohammed Qasim with three, Muhammad Ikraaz and Adil Tanvir.

Alwoodley weren’t involved in the action this weekend as their Cup fixture against their reserve team was postponed due to weather conditions. In the Championship, Wortley extended thier unbeaten run to six games with a 6-2 win away to mid-table Garforth Crusaders.

Joshua Proctor, Matthew Dalton with two and a Ryan Sharrocks hat-trick secured all three points for Wortley.

Wortley sit second, only three points behind Gildersome Old Boys and have two games in hand.

Leeds Medics & Dentists Reserves were 3-0 victors this weekend as they beat Ealandians Reserves.

The Medics’ sit in seventh place, with Ealandians just below in eighth.

Morley Town and St Bede’s were involved in a rare occurrence as they played out a 0-0 draw at Batley Sports Centre.

Top of the table Gildersome Spurs OB were involved in Cup action as they put division rivals Beeston St Anthony’s to the sword in a routine 3-0 home win.

In Division One, top of the table high-flyers Amaranth Crossgates destroyed struggling Whitkirk Wanderers 6-0, as they went three points clear with a game in hand. The goals were nicely spread about between Mike Murisa, Matt Palmer, Ryan Houghton, Chris Baldwin, Taylor Starkey and Martin Dixon.

In a mid-table clash, Golcar United overcame Thornesians 1-0 away from home as Simon Ross provided the only goal of the game.

Golcar move up to seventh and Thornesians sit eighth.

Beeston Juniors Old Boys won 5-2 away from home against Leeds Medics & Dentists III. Beeston sit in sixth position, while the match between Idle FC and Farsley Celtic Juniors Reserveswas postponed.

In Division Two, Tyersal lead the way and are yet to lose in nine games. This week they hammered Sandal Wanderers 8-3.

Tom Hart scored a hat-trick for the losing side as he took his goal tally to 20 for the season and sits top of the goal scoring chart.

Shire Academics Reserves beat Horsforth St Margaret’s Reserves 4-0 in a top of the table clash.

Morley Town AFC Reserves saw off Garforth Rangers 6-2 in a huge relegation clash, but the result of the day came from runaway leaders of Division 3, New Middleton, as they enjoyed a 10-0 romp at home to fourth-placed Norristhorpe. Unbeaten Middleton have won all nine games, scoring 57 goals in the process.

LEEDS CITY Old Boys stormed into the fourth round of the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup with a 10-1 romp at the Harrogate League’s Kirkby Malzeard Reserves.

Ali Lewis blasted in four, supported by a brace from Adi Chapman plus strikes from James McFarlane, James Horsfield and an own goal for the Yorkshire Amateur League Championship side who will now entertain either Uppermill or Kirkstall Crusaders in the last 32 on January 5.

Mount St Mary’s – who sit bottom of the Yorkshire Amateur League Championship – also progressed with a 3-2 win at HV Academicals via strikes from Adu Nsiah Ransford, Tom Welsh and Kallum Long. St Mary’s will welcome Oxenhope Recreation Reserves in the next round.

Yorkshire Amateur Division One side Idle also progressed with a 2-0 triumph at home to Elland United thanks to goals from Adam Medley and Jack Strudwick. Springhead Reserves will be Idle’s visitors in round four.

West Yorkshire Alliance Division One leaders Field Reserves edged out visiting Northowram Reserves 2-1 to set up a home clash with Whitkirk Wanderers Reserves while Northowram’s first team were seen off 5-2 by visiting Beeston St Anthony’s Reserves. Beeston’s Jack O’Malley bagged a treble with Sam Morrell adding a brace to book a home tie with Garforth Crusaders.

Huddersfield Amateur Reserves went through 4-3 on penalties at home to Harrogate League visitors Bramhope after a 2-2 draw as goals from Ryan Lill and Jackson Walker proved in vain for Bramhope. Amateur will welcome Snydale Athletic in round four.

But Aberford Albion Reserves were chinned 2-1 by Harrogate League visitors Burley Trojans for whom Daniel Bott and Luke Bott both struck. A trip to Fieldhead Hospital is next. Harrogate League side Kirkstall Crusaders were blitzed 9-1 at Uppermill.

In the County Challenge Cup, Oxenhope Recreation walloped visiting Goole United 6-2 to seal a home draw with Church Fenton. Daniel Moriarty’s hat-trick was supported by a Lee Reilly double and Scott Nelson strike.

Huddersfield YMCA also obliged 4-0 at higher division Pool thanks to a Jordan Jaber treble and Jack Bennett strike. YMCA will host Field in the next round.
