Women's Football: Bentley puts Leeds in the driving seat but Reds rally to overtake them

Leeds took the lead early on through captain Emma Bentley but second-placed Liverpool fought back with early second-half goals to keep their promotion bid alive.

Guiseley suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat against Blackburn Rovers to remain 10th in the Northern Division.

Farsley Celtic are still unbeaten in the Southern Division after Keegan Lambert scored four in the 6-1 win at Ossett.

Keegan and Helen Gresty then both got two against Westella and Willerby.

In the West Riding Premier League, Gledhow twice narrowly missed out on a chance to move off the bottom of the table.

They were drawing 2-2 at Altofts but the league leaders took the points.

Gledhow also lost by the odd goal to Hepworth, losing 3-2 at home.

Meanwhile, there was an entertaining game between Bradford Park Avenue and Brighouse Athletic.

Bradford raced to a 2-0 first half lead with good finishing from Nat Bell and Laura Wolfenden.

Brighouse Athletic hit back through Lisa Parry, Phoebe Durkin, Ash Butler and Rebecca Teale to take a 4-3 lead with five minutes to go before Avenue skipper Sarah Huby ensured the points were shared.

Tingley Athletic are through to the West Riding League Cup final after their comprehensive 3-0 victory over Altofts.

They will face Bradford City A at the start of May after they beat Battyeford Belles Firsts.

Leeds Medics & Dentists thrashed Hebden Royd United 8-0 to move up to second in Division One, but remain eight points behind leaders Battyeford.

Ilkley Town and Republica Internationale drew 2-2.

Silsden beat Oulton Athletic 5-0 to book their place in the League Shield final where they will face Brayton Belles.
