Who are the West Brom danger men Leeds United should be wary of? Marcelo Bielsa picks out the key players

"I think the best offensive players of the Championship play in West Bromwich," said Marcelo Bielsa of this weekend's opponents. "They might not have the best player in each position. But if we take, as a whole, No. 15,10,19 and 16, they are the best offensive players.

"If we take them as a whole you won’t find another team with players as good as them."

The Argentine often refers to United's opposition in number form but took the unusual step of picking out the players for Darren Moore's men that he believes can do the most damage to Leeds this weekend at The Hawthorns.

So... who are the players he picked out and why does Bielsa see them as a threat? Let's take a look...

15 - Harvey Barnes

Position: Attacking midfield

The one that got away for Leeds United over the summer as the 20-year-old was set for a move to Elland Road before opting to join West Brom choosing instead to stay closer to home.

Barnes joined the Baggies from Premier League side Leicester City on a season-long loan and has made a bright start to life at The Hawthorns providing a starring role in Albion's early season form before a recent dip which has seen Darren Moore's men drop just outside the play-off spots.

The attacking midfielder has made three senior appearances for the Foxes and spent the second half of the 2016/17 season on loan with MK Dons. Barnes joined Barnsley on another loan at the beginning of the 2017/18 campaign and made 23 appearances at Oakwell before being recalled in January and has now made the step up into the Championship providing five assists and three goals in the opening 16 games showing off a raw ability to create space for others playing in behind the front men for Albion.

10 - Matt Phillips

Position: Right winger

The 27-year-old joined the Baggies in 2016 from Queens Park Rangers for a fee of £5.5million and has made 75 appearances for the club in all competitions. Phillips is enjoying a new lease of life in the Championship following the relegation from the Premier League last season.

The Scotland international has had spells with Wycombe Wanderers, Blackpool, Sheffield United and QPR. The right winger has bagged four goals and two assists in league action this season for West Brom and posing a real threat with his pace and creativity as he cuts in from the right.

19 - Jay Rodriguez

Position: Striker

The 29-year-old, who was heavily linked with a move back to the top flight throughout the summer, has made a stunning start to the season bagging eight goals in 16 games in the Championship.

Rodriguez joined the Baggies from Southampton in the summer of 2017 for £12million and has made 56 appearances for the club in all competitions. The striker started his career at Burnley, where he would go on to make a name for himself, but spent time out on loan at Stirling Albion and Barnsley before doing so.

Rodriguez has been ever present for the Baggies this season and poses a real threat to Bielsa's men on Saturday evening in front of goal always looking to play on the last man and get in behind. He also offers an option of route one should the Baggies need it.

16 - Dwight Gayle

The 29-year-old joined West Brom from Newcastle United on a season-long loan deal with Salomon Rondon heading the other way. Gayle has started the season in red-hot form bagging eight goals in just 13 games for the Baggies.

Gayle started his career in non-league before making the switch to Peterborough United and then Crystal Palace ahead of his move to St James' Park. His presence in attack and raw pace in something United must consider with Gayle having shown a deadly touch in front of goal this season so far.
