Guiseley jumped off the bottom of the table and above York with Saturday’s 3-1 win at home to Boreham Wood on an afternoon when the Minstermen were beaten 3-0 at Bromley for their tenth league loss from their last 14 games, the other four of which have resulted in draws.

During that dismal run, City were blitzed 6-1 at Nethermoor in October and Purver knows York, now managed by Gary Mills, will want revenge but the midfielder says the improving Lions will be raring for battle themselves.

“If they’re not going to be up for that game on Tuesday, they never will be,” said Purver.

“We know what we’ve got to go and do, we know we’ve got to go there and put in a performance like we did here and take care of business.

“But we’re under no illusions that this will be a really tough game.

“They are going to be right up for it but so are we.

“Hopefully we can string a few results together and get out of the relegation zone, never mind the bottom.”

In the FA Trophy, Harrogate Town face a third qualifying round replay at Salford City while Farsley Celtic visit Tamworth. FC Halifax Town try again at home to Matlock Town.
