Jordan Botaka made a point to the managers of Leeds United and Charlton Athletic with a clinical finish and a classy assist during an international match between Congo and the Central African Republic.

Botaka was sent out of Leeds on a season-long loan to Charlton last month - a move which appears to have spelled the end of his career at Elland Road - and he has been limited to just two substitute appearances in League One so far.

But the 23-year-old winger turned on the style with a 20-yard finish as Congo routed the Central African Republic 4-1 in an African Cup of Nations qualifier on Sunday.

Botaka’s trickery on the right wing also led to another Congo goal in Kinshasa.

The former Excelsior player was allowed to leave United after being deemed surplus to requirements by head coach Garry Monk.

He has less than a year left on his contract with Leeds and is expected to move on when his deal expires next summer.

Botaka made only three league starts in his first campaign in England and 14 appearance in all.
