Leeds United

Done deals: £575,000 arrival of Toumani Diagouraga, Muzzy Carayol’s loan capture and the re-signing of Liam Bridcutt - although the major news came with the £3.7m sale of Sam Byram.

Work to do: Plenty. Making sure that Charlie Taylor and Lewis Cook stay put for a start, with some striking reinforcements at the top of Steve Evans’s incoming wish-list.

If not two, then most certainly one. Speaking after the cup win at Bolton, Evans said he was keen on bringing in an overseas player who has targeted before and has bids in for a couple of domestic-based players. Evans is someone who has completed several beat-the-deadline deals in the past in his time at Rotherham.

Barnsley

Done deals: The acquisition of young players Josh Brownhill and Ashley Fletcher on loan, with Leicester midfielder grafter Jak McCourt also joining. A busy month has also seen Aidy White sign on for the rest of the season after leaving Rotherham and Lloyd Isgrove extend his loan deal for the remainder of 15-16.

Work to do: Extending Kevin Long’s loan and adding a permanent signing or two in an ideal world - possibly a striker - to bolster a squad which is heavy on loan signings . Keeping hold of in-form Sam Winnall, subject of a derisory bid from Leeds United, and captain Conor Hourihane also goes without saying.

Bradford City

Done deals: The recent loan addition of Jamie Proctor from Fleetwood - with Devante Cole going the other way - and Birmingham’s Wes Thomas has enhanced City’s attacking options. This followed the loan re-signing of Lee Evans and Kyel Reid, with West Ham defender Reece Burke also extending his temporary stint at Valley Parade despite interest from Coventry and two Championship clubs.

Work to do: Phil Parkinson admitted to being ‘comfortable’ ahead of the window opening and that sense of contentment should have been increased with the addition of Thomas and Proctor. Parkinson is a grounded operator who you sense abhors the nonsense of deadline day and is one who is keen to do his business earlier if possible and under the radar.

Doncaster Rovers

Done deals: Loan signings of young Premier League duo Lynden Gooch and Eddy Lecygne from Sunderland and Stoke, respectively. Rubber-stamping a loan extension for talented Everton loanee Conor Grant and keeping Cameron Stewart. Also re-signing Craig Alock on a permanent basis – and allowing Richie Wellens, Harry Forrester and the McKay twins to leave.

Work to do: After last Tuesday’s defeat to Port Vale, Darren Ferguson said further major business was unlikely, with the club’s playing budget covered, although some keeping cover may come into their thoughts. Ferguson says that if he was to bring in an outfield player, he will have to get one or two players out, which is often not straightforward.

Huddersfield Town

Done deals: Algerian international Karim Matmour, someone David Wagner knows about from his time in German football, brought in to provide a creative offensive option, while James Husband brought in from Boro to mitigate for the loan loss of Ben Chilwell - although he may return to Teesside shortly to cover for the injured George Friend. Jed Steer staying put, with James Vaughan, Muzzy Carayol and Murray Wallace exiting.

Work to do: Wagner, with funds available, has made no secret about his desire to add a forward, with Vaughan having left and Ishmael Miller on the periphery - Wolves’ Rajiv van La Parra has been linked. Wagner has been reassured that he does not have to sell anyone - with Nahki Wells, linked with Wolves, having stressed his desire to stay.

Hull City

Done deals: Allowing some young players on the fringes to leave including Matty Dixon and Will Aimson.

Work to do: Bringing in Manchester United forward Nick Powell and Slovakia international goalkeeper Dusan Kuciak ahead of tonight’s 11pm deadline.

Kuciak is likely to be the first deal completed as he undergoes a medical in Leeds this morning, having agreed personal terms for a £250,000 move from Legia Warsaw. He was in attendance to watch City win 3-1 at Bury in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday.

Powell was also in the stands at Gigg Lane as talks continued over the weekend, but Hull do have competition in their quest to sign him.

Repelling any late advances of top-flight sides for the ‘family silver’ in the shape of Abel Hernandez, Ahmed Elmohamady, Andrew Robertson and Michael Dawson, although Steve Bruce has stressed he has every confidence in doing that. The Hull chief is relaxed – and so he should be with the Tigers having their bases covered.

Middlesbrough

Done deals: Gaston Ramirez’s loan arrival from Southampton which followed the addition of loan striker Kike Sola from Athletic Bilbao. Loan exits of Adam Reach, James Husband, Carayol and Rhys Williams, with Jack Stephens and Bruno Zuculini departing.

Work to do: Expect it to be a busy day of negotiations on Teesside following the dramatic collapse of Jordan Rhodes’ £11m move form Blackburn - due to bonuses and clauses in the deal which would have seen Boro pay out a complete financial package of £30m over four years which proved too prohibitive. It remains to be seen if things can be ironed out before 11pm, with both Boro, Blackburn and the representatives of Rhodes having ‘invested’ plenty in the deal. The falling through of the transfer has given Boro precious little time to seriously pursue other targets, although their interest in Ross McCormack is long-standing, with the Fulham player keen to join Boro - having seen a transfer request turned down recently. Landing another attacking option in the No 10 role, with Boro likely to lose out to Burnley in the race to sign Spurs’ Alex Pritchard, is another area of attention.

Rotherham United

Done deals: Andrew Shinnie and Chris Burke has arrived on loan in the past week, along with released Leeds midfielder Chris Dawson and ex-Elland Road frontman Luciano Becchio. Aimen Belaid and Shay Facey bolstered the Millers defence at the start of the month, with Alex Cairns providing keeper cover after Adam Collin’s exit. Aidan White has also left along with Jordan Bowery, who has joined Oxford.

Work to do: The Millers have an ongoing interest in a number of players and have targeted a midfielder.

Sheffield Wednesday

Done deals: Gary Hooper’s big-money arrival from Norwich, alongside Joe Bennett’s loan capture. Confirmation of Jack Hunt’s permanent move and a whole raft of contract extensions – Barry Bannan, Glenn Loovens, Atdhe Nuhiu and Sam Hutchinson. Darryl Lachman has left the club.

Work to do: The Owls working on a deal to bring in Everton’s Aiden McGeahy to add another wing option - while left-back Rhoys Wiggins is set to join Bournemouth. Bringing in another central midfielder to add another option is another priority, it would not be a surprise if Wednesday brought in a couple of players.

Done deals: Dean Hammond renewing his loan deals, with James Wallace also loaned out to Shrewsbury and Alcock leaving for Doncaster.

Work to do: Plenty - both incoming and outward, with Nigel Adkins determined to trim down a top-heavy squad in terms of numbers and also inject some quality – with Fulham’s Dan Burn being a name constantly linked.

York City

Done deals: Busy, busy, with Jackie McNamara being the most active manager,in the country and not just in Yorkshire, bringing in seven new recruits, with the ‘name signing’ being ex-Celtic and Scotland frontman Derek Riordan followed by Newcastle United’s under-21 captain Lubo Sakta.

Work to do: Getting more unwanted squad players off the Minstermen’s books primarily, such as John McCombe and Marvin McCoy.
