Success in '¨showdown gives City title boost

In the second round of the Luty Cup, Division One leaders New Pudsey fell 3-2 at West Leeds Armley, who sit 16 places below them in Division Two.

The Premier Division saw some shock results with 26 goals being scored across five games.

Bottom side Garforth Sports and Social, with just one point, welcomed second-placed Kirkstall Crusaders.

In an eight-goal thriller, the visitors were forced to settle for a point while third-placed Colton were dealt a blow, falling 3-1 at seventh-placed FC Broadway.

Runaway leaders Kippax Sundays moved nine points clear with a 3-0 win against East Leeds Wortley.

Half of the division’s goals came at Hunslet Parnaby, who ran out 9-5 winners against West Leeds Wortley, in-form striker Kyle Swithenbank netting four goals.

Harehills WMC moved of the foot of the table with their first three points, winning 1-0 against Swillington.

In Division One, at Chapel Allerton, Millshaw Park Rangers leapfrogged their opponents into third after a 3-1 win, while basement outfit East Leeds moved to within two points of eighth-placed Moortown Albion thanks to a 4-2 victory.

Bramley’s 2-1 win at Commercial HQ means there are just two points between the top five.

There was a drab 1-1 between Halton and Hare & Hounds, but things were more exciting at Beachwood, as Oulton Athletic were the victors in a 12-goal thriller, winning 7-5.

In Division Two, Acorn Bramley inflicted a crushing 9-1 defeat on AFC Elford as Matt Lofthouse celebrated a hat-trick.

Leaders South Seacroft sailed to a comfortable 5-1 victory against Corpus Christi as Joe Johnson also netted three, whilst Halfway won 5-0 at struggling FC West Leeds.

Horsforth Saints are four points off the top with three games in hand after a 1-0 win at West Yorkshire Falcons.

In the Pudsey derby, Athletic’s Nick Dent, Adam Cole and Matt Hartley cancelled out goals from Sporting’s Jamie McDougan (2) and Matty Durrans.
