Spen Valley/Selby - Back-to back wins seal title for Athletico

ATHLETICO secured the Spen Valley League Premier Division title with Saturday's 4-0 success at relegation-battling Hartshead, writes LEE SOBOT.

Athletico set themselves up for the weekend’s title win with Wednesday night’s 6-3 triumph at home to mid-table Idle which put them four points clear of Palestino with two games left to play.

Palestino needed Athletico to slip up at Hartshead but instead doubles from Paul Hague and Bilal Mirza sealed the silverware.

A Raees Lorgat double and Afzal Laher strike was in vain for the visitors.

Leaders Dewsbury West Side have long since sealed the title.

A first-half goal from captain Chris Burnett had put Ponte 1-0 up.
