Roland Nilsson (right-back): Swedish international went on to play and manage Coventry before spells in charge at Malmo and FC Copenhangen.

Nigel Worthington (left-back): Northern Ireland international moved on to Leeds before finishing his career at Blackpool, whom he then managed before spells at Norwich City and Northern Ireland. Now manager of York City.

Phil King (left-back): Enjoyed most successful time of his career at Hillsborough before spells as a player at Blackpool, Aston Villa, Swindon and Kidderminster. Now a pub landlord in Wiltshire.

Carlton Palmer (defence/midfield): After five years at Hillsborough, the England midfielder joined Leeds and went on to play at Nottingham Forest, Coventry and Stockport. Was player-manager at Stockport and managed Mansfield but is now a TV pundit.

Viv Anderson (defender): After leaving Hillsborough in 1993, he joined Barnsley and finished his playing days at Middlesbrough. Was player-manager at Barnsley for a short spell. Inducted into the English Football Hall of Fame in 2004.

Chris Waddle (midfield): Joined Owls from Marseille. Played out his days at Bradford City, Burnley and Worksop and had a brief spell in management with Burnley. Now a media pundit.

John Harkes (midfield): USA international had spells at Derby and West Ham after leaving Hillsborough before returning to play in the MLS with DC United, New England Revolution and Columbus Crew. Played in two World Cups, now a media pundit.

John Sheridan (midfield): Left Hillsborough in 1996, and had spells at Bolton, Doncaster and Oldham, where he was player-manager. Was in charge at Chesterfield until last year, before joining Plymouth Argyle this season.

Paul Warhurst (defender/midfielder/striker): Blackburn signed the versatile Warhurst, who played for numerous clubs before finishing his playing days at Northwich Victoria in 2007, where he had a brief spell as caretaker manager.

Chris Bart-Williams (midfielder): Former England Under-21 midfielder joined Nottingham Forest from Wednesday. Currently coaching women’s football in America.

Graham Hyde: Played three seasons at Birmingham after leaving the Owls before the Doncaster-born midfield grafter spent time at several non-league clubs. Left AFC Telford as manager this season, after spells in charge at Redditch and Boston United.

Danny Wilson: Joined Barnsley from Wednesday and managed Reds for several seasons, before returning to Hillsborough as manager in 1998. Recently Sheffield United manager and had previous spells in charge at Bristol City, MK Dons, Hartlepool United and Swindon Town.

Mark Bright (striker): After leaving Owls in 1997, had a couple of seasons at Charlton Athletic. Now a BBC pundit.

David Hirst (striker): Scored over 100 goals for Wednesday, before playing under Dave Jones at Southampton. Barnsley-born striker is now an Owls coach.
