This was a much-improved performance by the bottom side, who looked a lot more solid at the back, while also creating some decent chances as well.

St Ledger picked himself at the back, with Rooney making his first start of the year.

It was the visitors who were in much better form despite losing at the weekend and they started well with the league’s top scorer Danny Rowe seeing his effort well saved by Guiseley keeper Luke Coddington.

Then Rooney saw a free-kick from about 25 yards out, just go over the top of the crossbar, Dayle Southwell went close ,while St Ledger saw his effort cleared off the line by Jordan Tunnicliffe,

With moments to go, Rooney who was a constant threat, cut into the area and crossed, with the ball ending up in the Fylde net.
