Four years after Howard Wilkinson’s arrival, the Whites sealed the First Division championship in late April 1992 with a 3-2 victory over rivals Sheffield United.

It was lunchtime kick off at Bramall Lane with an own goal from Blades defender Brian Gayle ultimately proving the difference between the two teams in front of 32,000 fans.

Liverpool beat Manchester United the same day and the rest is history as fans took to the city’s streets (and even Lee Chapman’s garden!) to celebrate the achievement or our rare archive photos demonstrate.
